The following poems were originally composed in 1997 using a magnetic poetry kit; and were recovered from an old Macintosh Performa hard drive. They're both magnetic media, come to think of it...
1. "powder"
a universe of fools need magic
over the morning breeze
our power turns to rust
yet smoke sings out shadow
i cry white as the porcelain of her hand above me
translucent and blind
2. "remember the secret"
friends ask why
you were frantic in joy
sad to die
killing all things of beauty
stop
live to sacrifice
fall in the blaze and
heal from a kiss
let yesterday fly
3. "untitled"
I never sweat the broken petal
though under a naked knife
eternity perhaps changes
4. "fever place"
heave it
this animal eternity.
embrace it not
from bare lust
raw like blood screams
enormous trust and delirious
peace, I ask you please
to desire me less
so that I am free
and linger blushing
like easy poetry
5. "and though"
every old man has one
deep blue marble center
and young women love
to like it but want to dance
wild in champagne currents
laughing in liquid symphony
you and me
will never learn
the essential meaning
of the word
we
Yes, they're maudlin and cheesy, but it works for me.
