When Mhari talked to her brother Mak about her upcoming wedding, they had a sudden brainstorm. Rather than ordering an elaborate conventional wedding cake, they decided to order a special cake made of 144 Krispy Kreme donuts. Their dad, Kunio, has always loved donuts and the cake was dedicated to him.

In all my life, I have never seen such a glorious sight. And never has a wedding cake been devoured in such record time. Most wedding cakes linger on plates and in the newlywed freezer. This one was gobbled up along with the coffee.

The sugar boost fueled the dance floor, where a high school classmate's jazz band from New York City was playing. Alison Crockett is a jazz singer and her husband is the drummer. The band was incredible. I asked the saxophonist to play the intro to the Simpsons as the cake was brought in, and he blasted out the perfect accompanying theme...

What a great wedding...
